Great place, I go with my daughter several Saturdays with my Harvard ID, she gather lots of info for school essays and enjoys one section at a time. Good for a single visit too, you can breathe Harvard spirit in it. Love it

This place is stuffed (no pun intended) with all kinds of cool formerly living things. If you're hitting Harvard's museums this has to be one your list. The live beehive exhibit is supercool. The coleoptera collection is pretty neat, but the Grand Mammal Hall is just great!

Our family's vote for best museum in Boston. A fascinating and enormous collection of specimens of rocks and minerals, prehistoric skeletons and stuffed/mounted creatures from around the world. Live, guided exhibits on the weekends – this Sunday we saw (and touched) a horseshoe crab, a scorpion, and a starfish. Entertaining for the whole family and kids of all ages. Free admission for Massachusetts residents (with proof of residency) on Sundays from 9–12, and Wednesdays after 3pm.

Not overwhelmingly large so you can thoroughly do this museum in 2-3 hours. By far the coolest taxidermy collection I've ever seen at a museum! I've never gotten to stand beside full scales of many of the animals on display, and it was eye opening. I had no idea some of these animals were so huge! (And thanks to a second floor, you're also able to "stand beside" the whale skeletons to get a full scale of that too! Humans are so small!) Also, The bottom floor of the Plymouth museum was empty so we got to fully explore it by ourselves which was super nice.

Great mineral exhibit. The taxidermied dioramas are interesting but somewhat confusing. Some of the specimens are adult size and some are not so two species appear to be the same size while in reality one is much larger than the other. This museum also has a good Native American exhibit as well.
