The best accommodation option for MIT grad students and visitor.
Brutalist architecture example that is an eyesore of Cambridge.
Ancient building from the 1960s, and set to be bulldozed in the next decade is a great location to live. If you keep in perspective that it is a dorm and NOT an apartment, it makes it easier to deal with the tiny closets, microscopic kitchen and outdated design. But the issue of everyone who lives in "F" apartments is the construction next door. I can only imagine what it's like to have child(ren) or babies next to the "beep beep beep"ing of the machinery backing up all day. Thankfully I live high up enough to drown it out with fans, earbuds and white noise. But if you open the window- forget it. Prepared to be annoyed during business hours. The best thing about this place is the location. Walk along the Charles River, across the Longfellow Bridge to the Esplanade...and enjoy a scenic walk to downtown.
This building, while conveniently situated and wonderfully priced, will be around heavy construction for 5 more years. The noise begins everyday at 7:30 every morning (a little later on weekends).
Eastgate was a great home during grad school. Older building with many small problems, but priced accordingly. Noise from construction and elevator issues were texting problems. Many apartments have spectacular views!
