Great market that has been here for many years, even before Whole Food acquired this point. You can find many options and a great breakfast. Also, during the first Wednesday of each month they sharpen your knifes and the place constantly held events.
Tiny store compared to the River Street store, but it carries a surprising number of products for the space they have. Off street parking in a small lot. The friendliness and helpfulness of cashiers varies here. Some are wonderful and friendly, while others can be cold and unhelpful.
Ps.: you can also lock your bike and calibrate your tire with their pump.
You get a wide range of choices with food and grocery items. They also have a meat and seafood section. There is a deli section too. In summary a complete store. But it sells only organic items and hence can be a bit expensive as compared to other places.
With a much smaller footprint than your typical, suburban Whole Foods Market, the Prospect Street location delivers all the essentials in all the ways that matter. It also provides that small, intimate neighborhood grocery feel that you don’t really see anymore in the era of automobiles and big box supermarkets. It’s accessible by bus and is about a 5-minute walk from the Central Square stop on the Red Line. All in all, this Whole Foods serves its purpose, and this neighborhood, quite well.
This grocery store is much smaller than most whole foods. It is located out away from most of the shops. These two factors make it feel much more like a small community grocery store then the chain store it is. The small size of the store limits the number of items which can sometimes make it a little frustrating to shop here. In its favor, due to it being away from most of the other stores it tends to be less crowded. The store does maintain a nice selection of products in the space available. There is a small selection of kosher meat available. It also has a nice produce section and with the recent accusation by Amazon the price drops are nice. The store has reasonable hours that it is open and they do try to have events to reach out to the community around it. After shopping here for a while, you begin to know what to expect to find stocked in this store as compared to the much larger Whole Foods a little over a mile away. This store was the closet grocery store when I last lived in Cambridge and it was extremely convenient when I needed something. I still occasionally stop into this store on my way home from work.
